TIFOSI ! New GOGGLES in the house.

Virtually indestructable Grilamid TR-90 homopolyamide nylon, hydrophilic nose and earpieces that increase their grip when they get wet, polycarbonate decentered lens, Glare Guard(tm), blah, blah, blah,... Kamikaze has a new glass rack! (it sits somewhere between the Oakleys and the Ryders) Tifosi offers great looking glasses for sport and whatever else, most with an interchangeable lens system (choose 3 of 4 tints), metal or nylon frames, with a hardcase! All for $60 to $90 bones.
YO! I've been wandering for the last ten days, somewhere between Marin County and Napa. Lots to say as soon as I get caught up, including BIG BMX SALE leading up to Christmas, lots of other bikes going on sale and Tifosi glasses are now available in the shop. More on that in a bit.

Blue Cup Challenge

LOCAL BOYS ride to a great finish at last weekends Blue Cup Challenge downhill race. Kamikaze riders Ben Reasbeck, Rory Crawford, and Nick Ainley came up with excellent runs after slugging through treacherous practice in the mud. Morning conditions were to the point where riders couldn't stay on the bike, and the race was slated to be cancelled. The crew at Blue let the sun and rain dry the course up and the race went on as scheduled. Ainley and Crawford came out with a 1st and a 2nd place in the Junior Sport class, while Reasbeck rode to a bronze medal spot in the Expert class. Sport- 1st-Nick Ainley 3:46 2nd-Rory Crawford 3:52 Expert- 3rd- Ben Reasbeck 3:38 Great race guys, and thanks to the Blue Mountain for hosting a great event. (Thank Ben for reporting, Dropmachine credit for the pic.)

Smells like UPDOG?

Checked out Lance Armstrong on Friday along with Mark Burnett, Peter Guber and other great speakers... Hey Lance, what's up dog? Great day.

Tu-BE or No(t) Tu-BE

Ok, that title is a little weak. What I am trying to talk about is going tubeless with your MTB tires. Do you love tubeless already, or are you still wondering if its worthwhile to change? You may know that going tubeless saves weight and allows you to run lower air pressure, but do you also know about puncture resistance when you use Stan's Tubeless system? Check out these puncture tests, including the "Path of Death" puncture test (video), not for the weak stomach :) Check out www.notubes.com and talk to us for more info.

Kryptonite Lock Exchange?

KRYPTONITE OFFERS FREE PRODUCT EXCHANGES TO ALL CURRENT OWNERS OF KRYPTONITE TUBULAR CYLINDER LOCKS. If you currently own a Kryptonite tubular cylinder lock and are concerned about the security of this lock, Kryptonite will exchange this lock for you with a comparable non-tubular cylinder lock. This announcement is likely in response to recent articles that their bike U-locks can be simply picked using a ballpoint pen... check out one of the articles here. For more info from Kryptonite, and to participate in the exchange program, click here. Kryptonite reports to expect locks to begin shipping in mid-October.

Buying a bike from Super Mart X..

"...the process of buying and maintaining [a bike] is worlds away from buying lawn furniture, which is exactly how the mass merchant treats the process." Our X-wrench Colin sent me this article (thanks!) Did you know 13 million bikes were sold through mass merchants in 2003? The authors got to wondering how does the average consumer go about buying these bikes, and then went on to find out first hand. Hilarious.

Wireless Internet Enabled Bike Writes Road Messages

Joshua Kinberg, using a wireless Internet enabled bicycle outfitted with a custom-designed printing device can print text messages sent from web users directly onto the streets of Manhattan in water-soluble chalk! You have to see the Quicktime demo of his maiden voyage. While the wash-away spray chalk he uses probably doesn't count as defacement of property, Kinberg was arrested for an 'unknown charge' today while street writing. More of the story here, and Joshua Kinberg's site. Amazing bike gadget. Unfortunately, not for sale at Kamikaze (yet).
